Music Library Highlighted Album: Beyoncé’s, Lemonade

On April 23, 2016, Beyoncé released her album Lemonade, along with an accompanying 65-minute visual, of the same name, that aired on HBO. Lemonade is mainly categorized as Contemporary R&B, however, explores a variety of genres throughout the entire album. There are 12 tracks, along with 2 demo tracks released afterwards.

It is her sixth studio album, and was recorded from June 2014 to July 2015. The album was largely written based on marital problems between her and husband, Jay-Z. Both are prominent figures in the music world, and the album gave fans an intense look into their personal lives. 

Singles like, “Formation,” (performed at Super Bowl 50) “Sorry,” and “Hold Up,” show the musical variety on Lemonade. Upon its release, reviews came flooding in. In one review from Rolling Stone, writer Rob Sheffield calls Lemonade Beyoncé’s “most emotionally extreme music, but also her most sonically adventurous.”…
