UNLV Music Library Artist Highlight Series: Sydney Guillaume

Sydney Guillaume

Guillaume is a Hatian-American composer known primarily for his choral music, but also composes chamber and film scores. He was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and moved to the U.S. when he was 11. Through his music, Guillaume works to share the Haitian culture around the world. He has been recognized in the 1804 List of Haitian-American Change Makers and by the top music school of Haiti for his efforts as an ambassador of the culture. His music is often referred to as ‘challenging yet spirited.’ In his music, you can hear the exciting and unique rhythms and melodies that are catchy yet tonally complex. With much of his music, the listener can’t help but smile and dance!
