This temporary student assistant position is scheduled up to 15 hours per week between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Scheduled shifts are dependent on student assistant’s availability and the operational priorities and needs of the division and/or department. Schedules will be agreed upon at the commencement of employment and will be structured to accommodate the students’ academic course schedule.

Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Curator for Gaming Collections, the Gaming Data Student Assistant assists in compiling statistical reports concerning the gaming industry, and in making those reports publicly available online.

Duties & responsibilities

Data Entry and Reporting

  • Enter data from published statistical reports to existing spreadsheets.
  • Routinely check state and commercial websites for newly released reports.
  • Update existing reports with new data and other relevant information.
  • Summarize and analyze statistical findings gleaned from data compilation.
  • Respond to email inquiries concerning the reports.

Website Maintenance

  • Upload monthly and annual reports to the Special Collections & Archives website.
  • Modify the webpage to reflect updates and additions.

Marginal Duties

  • Attend student assistant meetings as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Working conditions

Sitting at a computer screen, physically lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs., maneuvering book trucks weighing up to 100 lbs., bending and stretching, and exposure to dust. Capable of reading labels for shelving and shelf reading.

Qualifications

Required:
* Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
* Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Ability to perform independently and able to remain flexible when changes are needed.
Preferred:
* Experience with statistical analysis.
* Familiarity with the gaming industry
