The UNLV Libraries has named Jenny Kent and Debika Jana as the winners of the 5th Annual Libraries Research Impact Challenge, an event that highlights innovative ways to share, track, and expand the visibility of your research.

Kent, the faculty winner, is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences. She leads research in the newly renovated Human Capability Lab (HCL), a biomechanics facility equipped with motion capture systems, floor-embedded force plates, and high-speed video for comprehensive human movement analysis.

The HCL occasionally offers undergraduate research opportunities. Students interested in participating can contact Kent.

Jana, the graduate student winner, is a second-year doctoral student in science education in the College of Education’s Department of Teaching & Learning, working under the supervision of Merryn Cole, associate professor of teaching and learning.

She has one article under peer review and two in preparation. Jana also collaborates with Erin Smith, assistant professor of teaching and learning, on a math writing interventions project that helps elementary students in grades three through five construct high-quality written responses to word problems aligned with district curriculum and assessments.

The Libraries Research Impact Challenge encourages UNLV scholars to increase the visibility and impact of their work through researcher profiles, open access tools, and engagement strategies. The annual event is coordinated by Research Impact Librarian Christina Miskey.
