
Rene Tanner has joined the UNLV Libraries as an associate professor and the head of the Liaison Program. In this role, she will provide leadership and strategic direction for library services and operations that strengthen collaboration between liaison librarians and the colleges and schools they support.
Tanner earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, a Master of Science in Soil and Water Science, and a Master of Arts in Information Resources and Library Science from the University of Arizona.
Prior to joining UNLV, she served as the science librarian and head of research services at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she provided research support and supervised subject librarians. She has also worked in academic libraries at Arizona State University and Montana State University.
An active member of the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries, Tanner currently co-chairs the ALA Core Values Interpretation Working Group for Equity. She has published extensively, presented internationally, and developed innovative projects such as seed libraries and climate resilience programs that connect libraries with their communities.
