The University Libraries has identified a preliminary list of databases and print and online journals for cancellation as part of the 2024 Serial Review Project, first announced in March of this year. The project was launched to address a collections acquisition funding shortfall due to inflation.

The Libraries are grateful that collections funding was held harmless in the FY24 and FY25 university budgets. However, inflationary pressures are eroding the Libraries' purchasing power, thus necessitating an extensive review of serials and databases.

The list was generated following a comprehensive review process that included analysis of usage statistics, cost data, and input from faculty, students and staff.

Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to review the preliminary list of cancellations and provide feedback. Please review the lists and send an email to Cory Tucker if you would like to request that a database or journal be taken off the cancellation list. In the email, please provide any information that supports keeping the resource. The deadline for requests is Friday, August 23. A request to remove an item from the cancellation list does not guarantee the item will be removed from the list.

A final list of cancellations will be sent out to campus the week of August 26. Please note that the actual  cancellation date of titles on the final lists will vary as individual journals and databases have different renewal dates spread throughout the fiscal year.If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Cory Tucker, Head of Collections, ILL and Acquisitions, at cory.tucker@unlv.edu or reach out to the Subject Liaison Librarian for your discipline.
