Mendeley Institutional Edition Update

EZproxy Maintenance

Please be aware that the Libraries' EZproxy server will be offline for scheduled maintenance on Friday, June 12, from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

During this two-hour window, access to all library databases that proxy from the library website will be unavailable. If you are currently working on a research project, please plan your database access around this downtime.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our systems running smoothly.

University supported access to the Mendeley Institutional Edition (MIE), a citation management tool, will be discontinued for UNLV users on October 31. Users will still have access to the free Mendeley version, but MIE account holders will notice changes to the options available to them for storing and sharing articles.

Account holders will retain access to their Mendeley library but will not be able to add new items if they exceed the free storage limit of 2GB. Individual subscription plans can be purchased from Mendeley for additional storage and the ability to administer larger group libraries.

Account holders who use their ACE for login will be prompted to create a password. Current Mendeley users can check their subscription settings to see if their account will be affected. More details about the change can be found on the library's guide to using Mendeley. Please direct any questions or concerns to Engineering Librarian Sue Wainscott.

If you don't already use Mendeley, don't feel alarmed by this change or discouraged from trying it out! The free version remains an easy and powerful tool for organizing the academic literature you have collected.

In addition, UNLV users also have access to RefWorks, a web-based bibliographic tool, and Zotero, a free open-source reference management software.
