This temporary student assistant position is a part-time position scheduled up to 15 hours per week.
Scheduled shifts are dependent on the student assistant’s availability and the operational priorities and needs of the division and/or department.
Typical shifts are 3 to 5 hours based on student availability and organizational coverage needs.
The Accessibility Student Assistant will support the Libraries’ effort to improve access to online research and learning materials, with a focus on LibGuides and related digital content. Working in coordination with the LibGuides Accessibility Task Force, the Accessibility Student Assistant will complete hands-on, high-impact accessibility improvements that directly benefit students and faculty.
- Reviewing images for alt text that aligns with accessibility best practices
- Update and correct links to current library records (e.g., Primo VE) across LibGuides while maintaining accessibility best practices
- Assist with accessibility improvements for instructional media (e.g., Panopto videos)
- Review and improve the accessibility of commonly embedded files (PowerPoint, Word, PDF)
- Track and report status of assigned tasks

Required:
- Must be a currently enrolled UNLV student with a minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate, and 3.0 for graduate
- Ability to work with Google Suite apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
- Experience creating and editing PowerPoint, Word, and PDF files
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Performs independently and able to remain flexible when changes are needed
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and ask questions to clarify instructions.
- Ability to learn complex systems and workflows.
- Reliability and punctuality on a consistent basis.
- Task-oriented and deadline-driven.
Preferred:
- Experience working with web-based content, instructional materials, or media platforms
- Experience creating or maintaining accessible content.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on defined tasks
- Familiarity with digital accessibility principles and assistive technologies
