Summary: This 407 reel collection spans the years 1849 - 1940. These periodicals feature news, reviews, philosophical commentary, and musical composition. Included are articles on drama, literature, and the pictoral arts as well. Music periodical literature of the nineteenth century was one of the first sources of music education, and was instrumental in shaping the artistic taste of the times.
