Summary: This 40 reel collection includes: records of instructions to and dispatches from diplomatic and consular officials which were often accompanied by pamphlets and newspapers, notes between the Department of State and foreign diplomatic representatives in the U.S., memoranda prepared by officials of the Department, and correspondence with officials of other government departments and with private firms and individuals. Subjects include political and government affairs, public order and safety, military and social affairs, financial and industrial matters, and communication and transportation.
