Summary: This collection of ephemeral literature reflects the literature of the poorer classes in England. These chapbooks provided news, entertainment, and sensation for this group. Included are riddles and jests, tales for moral instruction, fortune tellings, adaptations of popular ballads such as Robin Hood, and songs - romantic, lighthearted and scurrilous.
