Summary: The Bureau, a privately funded social science research institution, was incorporated in 1913 to study, ameliorate, prevent, and correct social conditions, crimes and diseases which affected society, especially prostitution. In 1928, its scope was expanded to include delinquency, penology, and criminal justice. Information contained in these 31 reels concerns narcotics, social problems, juvenile delinquency, crime and criminals, the police, and prostitution in the U.S. and Europe during the years 1913-1940. Dissolved in 1940.
