Summary: Prepared under the direction of the Department of Commerce and Labor, this detailed report is based upon investigations of women and child wage earners conducted by special agents in 19 different areas. A partial list of topics investigated includes: the cotton, silk, and glass industries; the beginnings of child labor legislation in certain states; juvenile delinquency and employment; labor laws and factory conditions; hookworm disease among cotton mill operatives; and history of women in industry and the trade unions.
