Join the Teacher Development & Resources Library, Sperling Kronberg Mack Las Vegas Holocaust Resource Center, and the Gayle A. Zeiter Literacy Development Center on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. for this virtual conversation with a panel of noted authors of Holocaust literature for children and young adults. In a time when antisemitism and all forms of bigotry are on the rise, these authors address these issues through the lens of Holocaust literature.

In celebration of International Open Access Week, the University Libraries is presenting the third annual UNLV Open Access Awards. This year's honorees represent a variety of units and researchers across campus.

Since July 2018, the University Libraries has been supporting OA publishing with the UNLV Open Article Fund. Between July 2018 through June 2020, the University Libraries:

• Supported 52 UNLV authors, from 15 different departments
• Paid the award to 37 different open access journals from 11 different publishers.

Did you know that having and using an ORCID iD can help support your open access scholarship? ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) is a 16-digit number that distinguishes you from other researchers, ensuring your work is recognized. ORCID is increasingly required by funders and publishers, including open access publishers.

The theme of this year's International Open Access Week, running Oct. 19-25, is “Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion.” The UNLV community took action to publish works around COVID-19 openly in the OAsis Research Repository, sharing community research and extending educational opportunities with the campus and world. 

The Clark County Election Department will offer early voting in the Amargosa Room at Lied Library on Oct. 21-23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

During these days, the Harmon Street entrance of Lied Library will be open for voters. The rest of the library will remain restricted to only UNLV and NSHE students, faculty, and staff.

Students, faculty, and staff who wish to access other areas or services in Lied Library should use the main entrance and bring your Rebel Card for access.

In honor of National Coming Out Day and Las Vegas Pride in October, the University Libraries' featured database is Gender: Identity and Social Change.

Calling all Indigenous and Indigenous Studies students! Are you interested in helping to shape the UNLV University Libraries Indigenous Studies collection? Do you have indigenous ancestry and/or cultural heritage and would like to see your community reflected in the resources collected, curated, and maintained by Lied Library? UNLV Athletics and University Libraries have partnered on a new initiative aimed at driving engagement throughout campus, the two departments announced Monday.
