Lied Library officially opened its doors to the public in January 2001, with a formal dedication held on January 20. Named for Ernst Lied, founder of the Lied Charitable Trust, the iconic facility has since served as the heart of UNLV, championing access, innovation, and academic excellence.

Your gift during our 25th anniversary helps fund student assistant positions across the University Libraries. These jobs do more than offer a paycheck. They provide students with hands-on experience, mentorship, and critical thinking skills that last a lifetime. Whether they're helping a fellow student at a service desk, digitizing rare archival materials, or working behind the scenes to make materials discoverable, our student employees play a vital role in keeping the Libraries running.

Lied Library Spirit Week
Join us for Lied Library Spirit Week, a three-day celebration filled with nostalgia, community, and plenty of fun as we celebrate 25 years of Lied Library.
The week kicks off with Retro Day, taking us back to 2001, the year Lied Library opened, with throwback movies, music, and vintage early-2000s displays.
Next up is Lied Is My Second Home Day, a feel-good celebration of the spaces, routines, and moments that make Lied a favorite place to study, relax, and connect, complete with cozy treats and interactive activities.
We’ll wrap up the week with the Lied Library Birthday Bash, a lively party featuring snacks, refreshments, karaoke, lotería, and more as we toast a quarter century of learning and community.
