The TDRL Juvenile Fiction collection includes fictional chapters books for readers in kindergarten to 8th grade (excluding early readers). Genres include contemporary fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, novels in verse, and additional fiction sub-genres.
Titles in the juvenile fiction collection cover many childhood developmental levels ranging from early elementary to middle school, and books should be selected for specific age groups based on reading complexity, protagonist age, and topics/themes that are relevant to the target audience.
Juvenile fiction titles are included in the TDRL collection for educational purposes including curriculum application, reader identity development, bibliotherapeutic uses, and to promote the love of reading.
The TDRL strives to create inclusive collections which reflect a wide range of stories, settings, and topics relevant to the diverse identities and needs of the P-12 students in our communities.
