Reference Assistance

Special Collections and Archives will be closed on Friday, January 17 and reopen on Tuesday, January 21.

For those researchers who are able to visit Special Collections in person, we have a number of search tips to help you in locating material both before and during your visit.

  • For researchers contacting us via phone or email, our staff can provide up to 30 minutes of research work on their behalf. 
  • All queries are answered in the order in which they were received, and response may take up to two weeks depending on the request. 
  • For requests that will take more than 30 minutes of research, Special Collections charges $40 per hour, pending staff availability.
  • Please email special.collections@unlv.edu for assistance with your reference query.

Researchers for Hire

Alternatively, if you are interested in hiring a UNLV History graduate student to assist with extensive research requests, Special Collections can provide you with a contact name and email for the UNLV History Department office. Any arrangement with them is a private transaction and the UNLV Libraries assumes no responsibility for the quality of work performed or the fees charged.
