Adela Montes De Oca was born in a small town in Mexico. Montes describes her childhood as a happy and festive one. She recalls constantly playing out in the streets playing with the neighborhood children. Montes recalls the whole neighborhood getting together at one house to watch television. In Mexico, Montes aspired to be a teacher, but was unable to achieve her goal due to the financial cost of school. Montes opted instead to become a social worker, she spent 20 years working with children in Mexican orphanages. In 2003, Montes decided to move to Las Vegas to join her family who had immigrated years prior. Montes is currently active in the Culinary Union taking part in political campaigns and union organizing. Interview conducted in Spanish. Subjects: Mexico, social work, Culinary Union |

She is the Diversity Officer for Bechtel Nevada Corporation, a member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Community Advisory Board of the Women's Research Institute of Nevada, and one of the earliest members of NALA (Nevada Association of Latin Americans). |

Alber Mora was born in Cuba on January 4, 1978. Mora's father was a military officer in Cuba while his mother attended to the matters of the home. Due to his older brother facing pressures to join the military Mora's family decided to leave the island on a fishing boat in 1994. When the family first arrived to the United States they were relocated to Houston, Texas. In Houston, Mora met his wife, Rosmary, another Cuban exile. They married in 1997, shortly after they decided to move to Los Angeles to live with Rosmary's family. In Los Angeles, Mora working at the famous Cuban bakery, Porto's. After a few years Mora left Los Angeles for Las Vegas where he found work at Caesars Palace. Since his arrival, Mora has been park of the Culinary Union where he works as Shop Steward. Jane Ann Morrison transferred to Las Vegas from Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she had worked as a newspaper reporter. The Donrey Media Group owned the Southwest Times Record newspaper in Fort Smith along with the Las Vegas Review Journal. In 1976, she became a night cop chasing stories that required a police response. Three years later, Jane Ann went over to the Nevadan, a portion of the paper that allowed a more in depth reporting style. Morrison was happy there but later hit the political beat. She tells stories of Yobo, a political corruption string, the G String Sting, encounters with mobsters, and Howard Hughes. Subjects: Review Journal, Donrey Media Group, The Nevadan, Ned Day, A.D.
