Visiting University Libraries

Lied Library and other campus libraries are open to visitors during regular hours. An appointment must be made in advance to visit during Rebel Hours.

Visitors must comply with the University Libraries conduct policy.

Visitors include:

  • Businesses
  • Members of the general community
  • UNLV Alumni
  • OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
  • P-12 educators

Visiting campus libraries during Rebel Hours

Rebel Hours provides controlled access to University Libraries typically during weekday evenings, finals weeks, and semester breaks to enhance safety and reduce security incidents. Visitors must schedule an appointment in advance. If you arrive without an appointment, our ability to accommodate your visit may not be possible. 

You will receive a response within 48 hours of submitting your request. 

Visiting archives and centers within Lied Library

Visiting Special Collections and Archives

Special Collections and Archives, located on the third floor of Lied Library, welcomes visitors to use our unique collections. For more information, visit the Special Collections and Archives visitors guide, and please contact the department directly if you need assistance with arranging your on-site visit.

Visiting the Patent and Trademark Resource Center 

The Patent and Trademark Resource Center Powered by Switch in Lied Library has limited walk-in hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Appointments can also be made by contacting Patrick Griffis, patrick.griffis@unlv.edu to make arrangements for your on-site visit.

Accessing and borrowing materials

Visitors are welcome to browse our collections. Staff at service desks are available to help you find materials. To search for an item, use Quick Search.

Driving directions

From the north
  1. Take University Center Drive south
  2. Go across Flamingo, stay to the left 
  3. Take a left onto Harmon Avenue
  4. Travel approximately half a mile; Lied Library is on the right, just before Harmon ends. If you get to the flashing light you have gone past Lied Library.
From the south
  1. Take University Center Drive/McCarran Airport Connector north
  2. Go across Tropicana, stay to the right
  3. Take a right onto Harmon Avenue
  4. Travel approximately half a mile; Lied Library is on the right, just before Harmon ends. If you get to the flashing light you’ve gone by Lied Library.

Do not turn onto Harmon Avenue from Maryland Parkway. Harmon does not continue across campus.

Parking on campus

Metered parking is available in the large parking lot behind Lied Library (turn right just before Lied Library).  A few metered spaces are also available on the right side of Harmon by the library.

There are 2 accessible parking spots in the metered parking next to the Harmon Ave library entrance.


Available public libraries 

These local public libraries are available for public use, but borrowing privileges may vary. All library systems make study space, computers, and access to on-site physical collections available to visitors. While these libraries are not a part of the UNLV University Libraries, they have comparable resources and spaces for use.
