The School of Medicine Library maintains a limited collection of required and recommended textbooks that are not available in ebook format in course reserves.These titles are available at the SOML Service desk for 24-hour loan.
Graphic Medicine Titles
The School of Medicine Library is one of the first medical libraries west of the Mississippi to have a dedicated online and physical collection of graphic novels that tell patient pathologies, physician perspectives, and caretaker stories. They are available on the 3rd floor and can be loaned for 28-days. Titles cover topics such as:
- Autism & Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Aging & End of Life
- Veteran Health & Life
- LGBTQ+ Health, including HIV/AIDS
- Adolescence and Childhood
- Women’s Health, Fertility & Domestic Violence
- Human Trafficking

Medical Humanities & Leisure Reading
Studies have shown that individuals who take time to read, particularly stories involving shared human struggles, increase their capacity for empathy, critical reasoning, and creative thought.
Our medical humanities reading collection promotes wellness through providing titles that allow an escape from day-to-day stress, and a look into interesting and difficult social, ethical, and medical issues. Titles can be loaned for 28-days and cover a wide variety of topics in science, medicine, and health by physician and non-physician authors.
