The University Libraries has obtained access to Altmetric Explorer for a 1-year pilot program running through 2023. This new tool is available to all UNLV students, faculty, and staff, and assists UNLV in reaching its Top Tier 2.0 goals and Carnegie R1 status by assisting with tracking and measuring the research of faculty produced at the university.

Altmetric is a tool that helps measure the impact of your scholarly research using alternative metrics using sources such as social media, news outlets, blogs posts and citation managers, that complements and expands on traditional citation and article download counts.

The Altmetric Explorer is an additional tool that uses persistent identifiers like DOIs, ISSNs, and ISBNs to create an Altmetric Attention Score reflecting the impact of an article or scholarly work.

You can also use Altmetric Explorer to locate and track the attention of your individual publications, search for information on journals, and locate trending research in your subject area.

Colleges and units also can use Altmetric Explorer to generate reports of trending journals in specific subject areas, create reports of authors within your college or unit, and compare outputs to other colleges or units in the same field.
