Media materials (videos, CD-ROMs, CDs, etc.) are available for use during all hours that the library is open.
Media materials are in closed stacks and retrieved by staff members using call numbers that are provided by the library's catalog. There are various types of playback equipment available in the library, and staff are available to assist with its use.
Borrowing Media items
All registered patrons with a valid Library barcode have access to Lied Library's media holdings. See our Circulation department page for registration instructions.
UNLV students, faculty, staff and other eligible patrons may check out up to 10 Lied Library media items at a time (DVDs, videotapes, CDs, etc.) for 7 days with two optional renewals (see Library Access and Privileges for a complete list of privileges by patron category).
Guest users with borrowing privileges can check items out for 2 hours, in-library use only, with an optional 2 hour renewal.
Materials checked out may be recalled if requested by another authorized borrower. They can be immediately recalled if needed for a class reserve.
- Extended use fees: $1.00 per day per item for undergraduate students and NSHE patrons; $5.00 per day per recalled item for all users. Replacement cost plus a $35.00 per item processing fee will be charged for checked out media items that are lost or damaged. Condition of the item will be checked prior to circulation and upon return. See Fees & Lost Books for more information on payment of charges and fee appeals.
Unauthorized removal of media materials from the library may result in loss of borrowing privileges, fines, and disciplinary action with the Office of Student Services, etc.
Students are responsible for all materials checked out to them. If you are working with other students, we have group viewing facilities for preview of our materials. Inquire at the Media Resources Service Counter about reserving a room for the day and time you can all gather to preview needed titles. See the Media Services desk for the full student procedures.
For questions, please call the Media Services desk at (702) 895-2122.
