Supernatural Encounters From Around The Globe

Join Dr. Sheila Bock (Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies), Student Diversity and Social Justice, and the University Libraries on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Goldfield Room at Lied Library. This hauntingly fun event will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the significance of Halloween and its connection to the supernatural.

Did you know UNLV publishes several open access journals on the Digital Scholarship@UNLV platform?  Currently, we have six active journals including three that have or will publish their first articles this year. Journals published on the Digital Scholarship@UNLV platform are all affiliated with UNLV, each published by an academic or administrative unit on campus. Digital Scholarship@UNLV is a service of the UNLV University Libraries for the faculty and students of UNLV. The mission is to capture, preserve, and share the intellectual output of UNLV faculty, staff, students, and collaborations with other stakeholders. Research and scholarly archived output include articles, monographs, audio/visual presentations, working papers, technical reports, conference papers/posters, theses/dissertations, data sets, and publicly-funded research.

Money, Power, and Publishing

UNLV researchers, students, and instructors are invited to participate in a conversation, "Money, Power, and Publishing," on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 1-2 p.m. in the Amargosa Room at Lied Library. The event will raise awareness of how academic work circulates online and the steps we can take to ensure our own work is accessible for everyday people around the globe.

Rebel Hours @ Lied Library Launches Oct. 6

Beginning in October, the UNLV University Libraries will launch Rebel Hours @ Lied Library, a pilot program to provide UNLV and NSHE students with more-secure access to Lied Library during late-night hours. This experimental program has been designed to provide a safe and secure environment for UNLV and other NSHE students studying and working on class and research projects during the late evening hours on the busiest days of the fall semester – Sunday through Thursday evenings from 9 p.m. to Midnight.
