Change The Subject: Documentary Screening & Panel Discussion

By skennedy on October 22, 2019 1:46 PM | Permalink

Join the University Libraries, Nevada State College Marydean Martin Library, UNLV Diversity Initiatives, the Nevada Library Association, and the UNLV Undocunetwork on November 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Goldfield Room at Lied Library for a panel discussion and screening of the documentary "Change the Subject: A Documentary About Labels, Libraries, and Activism."

This documentary tells the story of a group of students at Dartmouth College, whose singular effort at confronting anti-immigrant sentiment in their library catalog took them all the way from Baker-Berry Library to the halls of Congress. Change the Subject shows how an instance of campus activism entered the national spotlight, and how a cataloging term became a flashpoint in the immigration debate on Capitol Hill.

Light refreshments will be provided. Let us know you're coming by RSVPing at http://bit.ly/ctsdocumentary. The event is free and open to the public.
