Join the University Libraries for "Graphic Novels at UNLV: An Exploration of Their Relevancy and Your Freedom to Read" on Wednesday, September 25 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Goldfield Room at Lied Library.
Graphic novels are among the most challenged books in schools and libraries. Defend your freedom to read by joining us for a Banned Books Week conversation about the use and value of graphic novels at UNLV.
This free event will include a discussion with Jarret Keene, Faculty Advisor and Consulting Editor for the Department of English; Jean Munson, Program Manager for the Women's Research Instititute of Nevada; Katherine Keller, Library Technician II in the Teacher Development and Resources Library and a board member of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund; and Amanda Melilli, Head of the Teacher Development and Resources Library.
A book tasting of graphic novels available through the University Libraries will take place following the discussion.
