Peter Michel Named Interim Head of UNLV Special Collections and Archives

UNLV University Libraries Dean Maggie Farrell has selected Peter Michel to serve as the interim head of the UNLV Special Collections and Archives. Michel, who previously served as director from 1995-2013, will serve in the interim capacity while the University Libraries launches a nationwide search to replace Michelle Light. Light left UNLV to serve as the Director of the Special Collections Directorate at the Library of Congress.

2019 Lance and Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Award Winners

Dean Maggie Farrell and the University Libraries honored five UNLV undergraduate students as the winners of the 2019 Lance and Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Awards on May 7. The awards, generously funded through an endowment established by Lance and Elena Calvert, encourage undergraduate UNLV students to master the art of research to become successful, self-sufficient, lifelong learners.

Extra Computers Available During Study And Finals Weeks

Stressed out looking for a computer? Drop by the Rhyolite Room on the first floor of Lied Library for a quiet place to finish your paper or project.

The computer lab will be open for students on Tuesday, May 7, Wednesday, May 8, Thursday, May 9, Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Art Therapy May 9

Express yourself and relieve stress at Art Therapy, sponsored by Fitness4Finals on Thursday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pioche Room at Lied Library.

Participants will receive the health benefits of coloring and doing other arts and crafts. Release stress, increase your focus, and calm your anxiety before finals.

Guided Meditation May 9

The University Libraries will host Guided Meditation, sponsored by Fitness4Finals on Thursday, May 9 in the Amargosa Room at Lied Library as part of our Study Week Stress Relief events.

Meditation help you feel focused and well rested before your exam with a 20-minute guided meditation.

Sessions start at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon.
