Applications are now being accepted for the Lance and Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Awards. The University Libraries present the awards annually to undergraduate students who have completed significant research projects that make sophisticated and interesting use of library collections. Students are honored in three different categories:
- Emerging Scholars (first-year, sophomores, and juniors)
- Advanced Undergraduates (seniors)
- Creative Works (students at any level who have created a design, performance accompanied by program notes, creative work such as writing or art in any format, or film)
Winners of the award receive a cash award of $750 for Emerging Scholars and $1,000 for Advanced Undergraduates and Creative Works, as well as recognition at a special reception during the spring semester.
Instructors who assign research projects or who mentor students whose work is informed by library collections are encouraged to nominate a student for this award. The application deadline is April 24 by 5 p.m.
Submission requirements are available online. Students must submit a final project, a short reflective essay, and a letter of support from a faculty member. Work from all disciplines is welcome. Questions about the award may be directed to Rosan Mitola at firstname.lastname@example.org.
