Claytee White Honored with Humanitarian Award

Claytee White

Claytee White, Director of the Oral History Research Center in Special Collections and Archives, has been selected to receive the Humanitarian Award at TMG Entertainment Network's 21st Silver State Awards - Women Awards on Saturday, Nov. 18.

White is an oral historian dedicated to preserving the personal stories documenting the history of Las Vegas. She is one of five founders of the Las Vegas Black Historical Society Inc., where she chronicles the history of the Las Vegas' black community. Her published writings on the subject include a book chapter, encyclopedia entries, and several articles.

Created in 2013, the Silver State Awards honor excellence and achievements by individuals and companies in the state of Nevada. The ceremony will benefit Susan G. Komen.
