The Curriculum Materials Library (CML) is changing its name to the Teacher Development & Resources Library (TDRL). Located in the College of Education, the CML is a branch library of the UNLV University Libraries.

With the name change, the library will be updating signage within the library and the Carlson Education Building and updating library and campus print and electronic publications after May 16 and over the summer. All changes are expected to be completed by August so that the name change is in place for the start of the 2016 – 2017 academic year.

The name change better represents the diverse collections within this specialized branch library of the UNLV University Libraries, as it offers a variety of resources that support teachers in the P - 12 arena and education professionals including principals, counselors, and other specialists.  In addition to P – 12 Clark County School District textbooks and curricular materials, the Teacher Development & Resources Library has learning and classroom manipulative kits, children’s and young adult literature collections, and features a professional development materials collection for educators.  The library also features a teacher preparation lab which is a space where College of Education students and CCSD teachers can experiment with educational technology.

The mission of the UNLV Teacher Development & Resources Library is to support the UNLV College of Education by providing services and P - 12 curriculum materials to students, faculty, and staff as well as P - 12 educators in the Las Vegas community.  In 2015, the TDRL was visited close to 90,000 times by its library users, and over 15,000 items from its print collection were used.  In addition, unique spaces within the facility, including the computer classroom and group study room, were used over 600 times by the UNLV College of Education students, faculty, and staff.

The Teacher Development & Resources Library is open to the public. Its hours during the academic year (August – May) are:

  • Monday – Thursday, 8 am - 8 pm;
  • Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; and
  • Saturday 9 am - 5 pm.
