Women's History Month at UNLV Libraries

March is Women's History Month, and UNLV Libraries wants to celebrate by sharing with you some of our women-focused research sources, including some unique resources only housed right here at UNLV.

Unique Collections

  • The Nevada Women's Archives in UNLV Special Collections document the history of women and their contributions to southern Nevada. It contains both the personal papers of notable Las Vegas women, and the records of women's organizations in Las Vegas.
  • The Showgirls Digital Collection features digitized materials (photographs, costume designs, and programs) drawn from various collections in UNLV Special Collections that focus on the history and legacy of the showgirl, one of the most iconic symbols of Las Vegas entertainment.
  • The Oral History Collection part of the Oral History Research Center in UNLV Special Collections features hundreds of interviews with notable Las Vegas women from all walks of life from gaming and entertainment to community activists and politicians.

  • Women’s History Month: The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of women with exhibits, images, audio/video, and resources for teachers on this website.
  • 11 Essential Reads for Women’s History Month: Off the Shelf editors provide suggestions on 11 of the most essential books to read to celebrate Women’s History Month.
  • History.com: Women's History Month: Learn the history of women's suffrage by watching video clips or viewing photo galleries of accomplished women. You can read about the "firsts" in women's achievements and much more.
  • National Women’s History Museum: The museum's Online Exhibits feature topics like entrepreneurial women, female spies, girls who changed history, and women who ran for President.
