The University Libraries support the UNLV community in the identification and use of data and tools associated with data collection and visualization. Faculty, students, and researchers from all disciplines are welcome to utilize the services provided, whether you have a question about a program, need support in your course instruction, or would like to brainstorm a research initiative.


Library Data Specialists help researchers with diverse backgrounds identify and work with a variety of data-related tools, and provides instructional sessions and workshops.


Data Specialists partner with instructors to develop course-integrated data visualization instruction and hands-on workshops. Previous instruction included technical skills such as building infographics and timelines; software-specific skills such as ArcGIS and TimelineJS; and more theoretical classes like Visual Literacy and GIS: Uses and Challenges in Solving Urban Problems. We work with each instructor to create a learning experience that aligns with course learning outcomes.
