In book four of the Lockwood & Co. series, Lucy is making a name for herself as a highly skilled freelance agent with a speciality for hearing supernatural phenomenon.  It’s not the same as tracking down and exterminating ghosts with Lockwood, but at least she is given the freedom to use her skills without fear of endangering her friends.  When Lockwood hires her for a job uniquely suited to her talents, Lucy assumes it will be a one time deal, but soon, she finds herself working side by side with Lockwood & Co. as they track down powerful blackmarket relics and uncover a paranormal conspiracy with deadly consequences.

Stroud continues to evolve his unique take on the paranormal with the world of Lockwood & Co. as the characters uncover more about the history of the various agencies and the dangerous and illegal experiments they are conducting. Although it is suited for wide range of readers, fans of paranormal phenomenon and ghost hunting shows in particular will appreciate the intricate back stories of the ghosts introduced in The Creeping Shadow, including the haunting of a mentally disturbed cannibal.  A quick and entertaining read, this addition to the series will keep readers enthralled and waiting for more Lockwood adventures.
