    Monday, February 27, 2017 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm
    Event Description:

    Feb. 27, 2017, 7:30pm

The College of Liberal Arts' University Forum lecture series presents Ferguson, Baltimore, Charlotee, and Other Ghost Stories a talk by Richard Gilman-Opalsky, associate professor, University of Illinois, Springfield. Dr. Gilman-Opalsky explores revolt as a form of politics and philosophy by unconventional means. Every society is haunted by the possibility of revolt against it. Specters of revolt threaten to raise the questions that haunt societies with long histories of brutal exclusion, racist violence, and fatal exploitation. Recent revolt in the U.S. demonstrates how present uprisings can take up the unfinished business of past ones. We seek to understand the theory and significance of revolt.
