UNLV librarians are always ready to help students and community users with their research, but did you know they are also academic faculty and active researchers in their own right?
UNLV Libraries proved to be one of four dark horses in a recently published eight-year study by librarians at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In the new study, UNLV Libraries has been ranked 12th in the nation for number of academic librarians who published articles in selected academic journals from 2003 to 2011.
The University of Illinois study examined articles published in 32 refereed journals in the field of library and information science. The term “refereed” means the article or manuscript is evaluated by independent experts for quality of scholarship, reliability or findings and relevance to the field. Out of 2,373 total articles with at least one academic librarian as an author, UNLV librarians were authors or co-authors of 32.
