Search international scholarly literature in the humanities and social sciences disciplines from 1802 to 1995. Periodicals Archive Online includes pre-1995 issues of over 400 journals, and allows cross-searching with journal backfiles included in JSTOR and Project Muse.
Access includes some searchable full-text, full-indexing and the ability to browse whole journals. Includes many journals published in languages other than English, and users can change the language of the search engine to Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Portugese.
- Quick Search is a simple way to find what you are looking for, and a Quick Search box appears at the top of every page. You can use it to find all of the articles in Periodicals Archive Online with a particular title, author or keyword, or all of the journals in Periodicals Archive Online with a particular title or ISSN.
Type the term(s) you want to search for in the Search for box. Choose whether you want to search for Article Title, Article Title and Text, Article Author, Journal ISSN or Journal Title from the drop-down box. Click the Go! button.
- The truncation character for Periodicals Archive Online is the *. For example interest* would retrieve interesting, interested and interests. To search for words that you always want located next to each other, for example genetic engineering, use the fby (followed by) operator. For example: genetic fby engineering.
- You can choose whether to display 20, 50, or 100 entries on the Article Search Results page using the Display drop-down list; click the arrow to the right of the box and choose the relevant option from the list that appears. You can change this on the results page too. By default 50 results will display per page.
Where is it :
Go to the UNLV Libraries' home page. Under Find, select Articles, then under Article databases by name, click on the letter Pand select Periodical Archive Online.
