The InfoCommons has approximately 60 graphic novels focused on personal illness or healthcare access on reserve for 1-week loan periods.
Graphic Medicine can loosely be defined as the use of comic narrative to tell personal stories of illness, health, and health care journeys. The use of pictures in combination with words allows the storyteller to express more complex feelings and reactions through the page than words or images alone. This creates a medium where not only facts are conveyed, but also the understanding of how place, time, and feelings can impact the health and wellness of the protagonist(s).
