Statement for Media Studies Publishing

The Center for Social Media is an excellent site for keeping up-to-date with copyright. They have just issued a Statement of Fair Use Best Practices for Media Studies Publishing. You can get the pdf of that report here. The document states that its intention is to be "a reference for media scholars to follow when considering whether or not their inclusion of media in a publication meets the standards of fair use." If you write about media, you may want to take a look.

A scene from the German film, [Downfall](, featuring [Bruno Ganz]( portraying Hitler, has become a [popular source for remixing]( [Brad Templeton]( of the [Electronic Frontier Foundation]( created his own remix to help explain some of the issues concerning fair use when such remixes are created.
