New Directions in Information Fluency: A Conference

Our present generation of skilled and accomplished digital natives has a universe of information at its fingertips. But, while millennials can search quickly and productively, they have trouble sifting, sorting, and ranking the results. They lack experience with print archives and the fundamental differences between encountering information digitally and in print. They need help with the research process: everything from presearch to evaluating sources' arguments to integrating sources into their own projects. How can librarians and faculty best teach these higher-level skills in a world of information overload?

Join the ACRL Award-winning Thomas Tredway Library as we explore these provocative and challenging issues in our one-day conference.

Call for proposals - Reminder

Join us for Extending Our Reach: The Inaugural Colloquium on Academic Libraries & Service Learning. The colloquium invites all who are interested in current and potential partnerships between academic librarians, faculty who teach service learning courses and service learning partners. The conference is designed to facilitate the sharing of research, ideas, perspectives and best practices in library engagement with/in academic service learning.  The colloquium will feature a keynote speaker, 30-minute presentations, round table discussions, and poster sessions. The conference will be limited to 75 attendees to facilitate opportunities to network and connect with colleagues in this emerging focus area of librarianship.

The submission form is now live! The deadline for submissions is January 31.

Proposals are now being accepted for the First National Personal Librarian & First Year Experience Library Conference, a 2-day event focused on all aspects of the first year experience and the personalization of outreach and services for incoming students. The conference will be hosted by the Kelvin Smith Library, Case Western Reserve University.

The inaugural conference will focus on starting library initiatives to support first year students, assessing outcomes of services and resources, and building the collaborative relationships throughout the organization to prepare a holistic approach to student success and retention.

Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to submit a paper to and participate in the
upcoming European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL 2014), to be
held from 20-23 October 2014, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. ECIL is an
international conference on Information Literacy and Lifelong Learning for
researchers, information professionals, media specialists, educators,
policy makers, employers and all other related parties from around the
world to present state of the art of conference themes and discuss current
issues, challenges, and good practices.

ECIL is co-organized by Zagreb University and Hacettepe University.

Paul G. Zurkowski is the Honorary Chair of the Conference. Conference
committees include over hundred and fifty distinguished experts from over
sixty countries. The language of the Conference is English.

The conference will be composed of several types of contributions, such as
full papers, posters, PechaKucha, best practices, workshops, panels,
invited talks, doctoral forum. Contributions should be submitted by March
16, 2014.
