UNLV University Libraries’ subject guides are a one-stop entry into library resources, instructing your students how to find and use pertinent resources in specific disciplines. Guides are convenient for students who don’t have time for in-person assistance, but who need help getting started with their research projects. They also are helpful for online education students and those who have a hard time getting to campus. Guides include content in a wide variety of formats, from web links to traditional resources to YouTube videos, representing the diverse learning styles of your students.
Subject guides are now integrated into WebCampus, enabling your students to access relevant, subject-specific resources directly from your course’s WebCampus pages!
A recent upgrade of LibGuides, the software behind the subject guides, includes an array of cosmetic upgrades as well as new features that improve the efficiency of web navigation. For instance, guides are now divided into different categories—subject , course, and help and services—making it easier for your students to discover needed information. Additionally, subject guides are now mobile responsive, allowing increased usability, whether from a cell phone, tablet, or desktop. WebCampus can include links to the relevant subject area for your courses; if no subject guide is available, the link will lead to the Libraries Research web page.
Contact your subject liaison librarian if you are interested in creating a tailored guide for your course or assignment.
