Between the Lines, News from YOUR Research Library: Achieve

Welcome to Between the Lines, an e-newsletter created specifically with UNLV staff, faculty, administrators, and graduate students in mind. As the fall semester gets underway, we welcome you to discover key resources, services, and library faculty available to contribute to your research and teaching.

In this issue, themed ACHIEVE, we share information about our collections budget and how we continuously work to meet your teaching and research needs. In addition to managing collection costs, we participate in regional and national groups to provide access to deep and rich collections. For example, University Libraries are now a member of HathiTrust, a collaborative repository of digital content from major research institutions and libraries.

To connect students to library resources, we share an update about the Libraries research guides along with ways you can embed this resource in your course or assignment. We invite you to learn more about how library faculty collaborate with you to develop assignments—through our faculty institutes or in one-on-one consultations. For example, this issue spotlights how students conducted oral histories and utilized primary source material in two UNLV courses.

We are pleased to announce our upcoming participation in Research Week at UNLV. We invite you to attend a workshop or visit us during our open house.

If this is your first time reading Between the Lines, stay tuned as we publish our e-newsletter twice a semester, and we encourage you to keep connected through our weekly updates on Facebook, Twitter, and the Libraries’ News Blog (available at

With a record enrollment on campus this fall, we encourage you to join us in our mission to connect people and information together in innovative ways.
