This June, 20,000 librarians will converge in Las Vegas for the 2014 American Library Association Annual Conference. The UNLV University Libraries will host an all-day open house on June 27th for our national library colleagues to explore our facilities and engage with our faculty and staff. Highlights of the Open House include in-depth building tours, concentrating on our recent space enhancement projects and new learning environments. The Libraries’ Special Collections division will showcase their unique collections and spaces.
In addition to our physical spaces, attendees have the opportunity to learn about the Libraries’ development and implementation of several educational initiatives through one-hour poster sessions and roundtable discussions. Key initiatives will be highlighted, including the vertical integration of information literacy skills in General Education curriculum, faculty development programs, our formalized partnership with first-year English Composition, our First Year Seminar instruction program, and our professional development workshop program for student employees.
Several UNLV Libraries faculty and staff are slated to present their research and initiatives at the conference.
