Between the Lines, News from YOUR Research Library: Connect

By BTL on October 2, 2013 7:27 AM | Permalink

Welcome to the second year of Between the Lines, an e-newsletter created specifically with UNLV staff, faculty, administrators, and graduate students in mind. As the fall semester progresses, we welcome you to discover key resources, services, and library faculty available to contribute to your research and teaching.

In our fourth issue, themed CONNECT, we share with you the many ways the Libraries make new connections between the campus and our community. This year, through the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of our Oral History Research Center, we connect members of our community with researchers exploring our records of the history of Las Vegas. Our records of the community have been enriched by these histories collected from an array of Las Vegas residents and over the course of 2013 we are celebrating the oral histories in a few themed events.

For the many new UNLV faculty and staff acclimating to their roles on campus, we connect you with our subject liaison librarians, your partners in research and education. While you are getting to know our expert library faculty, we encourage you to streamline acquiring copies of articles with our convenient PDF delivery service, DesktopExpress.

We are excited to share with you the research accomplishments of two of our library faculty in their article Libraries Atwitter, in addition to revealing how UNLV faculty and students are utilizing new Hispanic databases to propel their research. Equally exciting is the connection the Libraries are offering our student employees to supplementary skills and training in an engaging series of workshops that culminate with a professional development certificate.

If this is your first time reading Between the Lines, stay tuned as we publish our e-newsletter twice a year, and we keep connected to the UNLV community through weekly updates on Facebook, Twitter, and the Libraries’ News Blog (available at

With more than 27,364 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled this semester, we encourage you to join us in our mission to connect people and information together in innovative ways.

Warm regards,
