Welcome to Between the Lines, News from YOUR Research Library

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Between the Lines, an e-newsletter created specifically with UNLV staff, faculty, administrators and graduate students in mind.

As the Libraries begin to recover from the budget cuts we have all faced over the past few years, I have made it a priority to get creative about how we reach out to our campus community—to get the word out about our partnerships and the resources and services we provide to help you with your daily information needs.

Between the Lines is one of the new mechanisms we will use to interact with you.

In this issue, which is themed REACH, we’ll take you into the intellectual process behind the creation of Dreaming the Skyline, the Libraries’ newest digital collection, and give you the scoop on a recent summer outreach program to K-12 teachers and librarians, the Teacher-Librarian Institute for Integration of Research into the K-12 Curriculum.

In addition, we have information for you on how to more easily search across the Libraries’ resources with Quick Search, and how to showcase your research on a global scale with Digital Scholarship@UNLV.

Finally, I couldn’t be more proud of the UNLV Libraries faculty, who were recently ranked 12th in the nation for scholarly productivity in the field of library and information science.

You can expect to see a new issue of Between the Lines twice a semester—most likely February, April, September, and November. In addition, we communicate new information weekly on the Libraries’ News Blog (available at and daily via Facebook and Twitter.

Join with us as we work to fulfill our mission to define the new academic research library—bringing people and information together in innovative ways.

Warmest regards,

Patricia Iannuzzi

Dean of Libraries
