Import Things to Know for the ASL Reopening

Welcome back to the University Libraries!

COVID-19 has changed a lot of policies at the library so here is a breakdown of all the revisions that have happened.

Library wide updates:

Walk-in facility use of all libraries is only available to current UNLV/NSHE students, faculty, and staff. RebelCards AND face coverings are required and will be checked at the door for entry.

Non-NSHE affiliates must make an appointment to use the facilities. Curbside pickup is available by appointment to any patron and is the preferred delivery method for Alumni and public patrons.

Facial coverings MUST be worn at all times.

Six (6) feet of distance from other patrons must be kept at all times. Furniture is set up with social distancing in mind so please do not move anything.

All food is prohibited in the library.

Any materials that are returned or used within the library will be quarantined for 96 hours before being processed. Because of this, you may return an item and still see it on your account for a few days afterwards. Once the quarantine period is over, all items will be backdated to their original return date so no fines will occur because of the quarantine period.

If you have pulled an item from the stacks but no longer need it, please place it in one of the cardboard quarantine boxes that are located on both floors and at the circulation desk.

Study rooms are first-come first-serve and there is a maximum occupancy of 2 people per room. Markers and erasers are not given out at this time.

ASL specific:

To return items, you may either use the book drop located outside of the west entrance of the Paul B. Sogg Architecture Building (ARC) or there is one inside of the library, to the right of the circulation desk.

To check out, please bring all items to a staff member at the circulation desk and place your RebelCard, barcode facing up, under the plexiglass shield. Present each book in the same manner, slide it under the shield with the barcode facing up. Then slide the spine of each item on the metal demagnetizer located to the right of the plexiglass shield.

Physical reserves are available but as stated above, will be quarantined for 96 hours after being returned. Plan ahead and check out any materials in advance in order to avoid difficulties with other borrowers. Please reference the Architecture resources guide for information about what course reserves items are available, whether a physical or electronic version. Please note that an item's listing may say that it is available but it may be in quarantine. Ask staff at the Architecture Studies Library circulation desk or call 702-895-1959 to see if a book is available for check out. Reserves are first-come, first-serve so they cannot be requested or held at the desk.

Technology (headphones, computer mice, phone chargers) can still be checked out and will either be cleaned or quarantined after being returned.

If you have any questions about the above, please contact libasl@unlv.edu
