Organization HistoryFounded in 1957 by Maxine Demick and Bertha Leonard, the Clark County Childcare Association (CCCA) is a professional association of child care center operators. Its original charter was to function as a means for child care givers to exchange ideas and solve problems uniquely associated with child care and to raise and maintain the standards of child care facilities throughout Clark County. The CCCA works closely with Clark County and Las Vegas city child care and welfare agencies.
Scope and Content
The CCCA Collection was donated in August 1980 by Joanne Beal, then CCCA Secretary/ Treasurer and covers the period 1957 to 1975. The collection is small and financial in nature, with many files having large chronological gaps and little correspondence. Included in the collection are canceled and returned checks, deposit slips, and bank statements; miscellaneous bills and receipts (1970-1975); miscellaneous correspondence, flyers, and rosters (1957-1975); insurance correspondence, bills, and miscellaneous notes (1970-1975); memberships cards, dues paid rosters and receipts, and miscellaneous dues related documents (1967-1975); minutes of CCCA general membership and executive board meetings (1957-1975); newsletter (1967-1974), and telephone bills (1970-1975).
