  1. What is LINK+?
    LINK+ is a book request service that uses a shared library catalog to allow UNLV students, staff and faculty to search for and borrow over 8 million books and documents from over 40 libraries throughout California and Nevada.
  2. How does it work?
    • If you don't find the book you are looking for in the Library Catalog, click on the Link+ button to automatically search for your book in the LINK+ catalog.
    • If the book is available, click on "Request this item" while viewing the full record.
    • Choose Univ of Nevada Las Vegas as your institution.
    • Enter your name in the top box and your Libraries barcode in the second box.
    • Choose your preferred pickup location in the second drop-down box.
    • Click "Submit".
    • You will be notified by email when the item arrives in 2-4 days.
  3. How do I check out a LINK+ book?
    LINK+ books can be checked out and returned to any University Libraries Circulation Desk.
  4. How much does it cost?
    There is no cost to request or check-out books. However, you are responsible for paying fines for late books and lost or damaged books.
  5. Who can use it?
    LINK+ is available to current UNLV students, faculty, and staff.
  6. Where do I find LINK+?
    LINK+ can be accessed through the Library Catalog or directly at LINK+.
  7. What is available to borrow?
    LINK+ provides access to over 7 million different books and other resources. Items listed as "available" in LINK+ can be checked out.

    You can request items that are currently checked out or missing; however, if a title is available for checkout at the UNLV University Libraries, you cannot request it from another library using LINK+.

    Ebooks listed in Link+ cannot be borrowed.
  8. How long does it take to get an item?
    LINK+ is fast, with an average 2-4 day delivery time. If you don't pick up your item it will be sent back after 10 days.
  9. How long can I keep an item?
    The loan period for a LINK+ book is 21 days. One 2-week renewal is allowed if the lending library approves.
  10. How do I renew items?
    No sooner than 3 days before the due date you can request one renewal for two additional weeks, if the other library allows it.

    Place your renewal request online through "Your Account" in the Libraries Catalog. Check back a few minutes later to verify whether your the renewal has been allowed and to see your new due date.
  11. What are the overdue fines for LINK+ books? What if I lose or damage a book?
    The fine for late returns is $1.00 per day per book. The replacement charge for a lost LINK+ book is $115. Items returned damaged will also be assessed a $115 fine.
  12. How do I check the status of my LINK+ request?
    You can monitor the status of your LINK+ requests through "Your Account" in the Libraries Catalog.

    When the status of the LINK+ request changes to "LINK+ RECV'D", the book is ready for pickup at your preferred pickup location. An email notification will also be sent.
  13. Can I cancel a LINK+ request?
    If the LINK+ request is still in "requested" status it can be cancelled. Use "Your Account" to cancel the request. If the item is in transit or has been received, the request cannot be cancelled.
  14. Can I use LINK+ at a different library?
    If you are visiting another LINK+ participating library and you find an item you wish to borrow, you can do so through Circulation at that library. Borrowed items can be returned to the lending library or at your home library.
  15. How many libraries participate in LINK+?
    Over 40 libraries participate in LINK+, giving you access to more than 7 million additional resources.
