Special Collections and Archives participates in several local, regional and national external funding agencies.  This funding has made important work possible in the areas of archival collection processing, digitization, and preservation. Recent grant projects

CLIR Recording at Risk

CLIR Recordings at Risk funding has supported digitization of at-risk video collections that document the history of Las Vegas.

Library Services and Technology Act

Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding has supported digitization projects, statewide events, and most recently a project to update critical preservation laboratory equipment.

National Digital Newspaper Program

National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP) statewide project ran from 2014-2021 and digitized historic newspapers from every county in the state of Nevada. In 2014, the UNLV University Libraries were selected to participate in the NDNP, a partnership between the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress (LC).

The program is a long-term effort to provide permanent access to a national digital resource of historic newspapers published between 1836 and 1922, selected and digitized by NEH-funded institutions from all U.S. states and territories.

UNLV worked on this grant in conjunction with the Nevada State Library and Archives (NSLA), the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Knowledge Center, and a broad support of stakeholders across Nevada. City of Las Vegas Centennial Grants

City of Las Vegas Centennial Grants funding has supported projects such as Game On: The Oral History of Las Vegas Sports, which documents the history of sports in Las Vegas through interviews with athletes and experts across multiple disciplines.
