Current exhibits

  • "Las Vegas Live" - located in the outer reading room, is a colorful exhibit chronicling the history of the music scene in Las Vegas from lounge shows and nightclubs to local musicians and headliners to radio stations and more. Thanks so much to our talented team of colleagues including Sarah Jones, Tammi Kim, Aaron Mayes, Landon Paljusaj, and Kristian Taketomo, for curating this exhibit drawn from our collections.
  • “Finding Their Story” - located in the Flo Mlynarczyk Gallery outside of SCA. This exhibit curated by Sarah Jones and Aaron Mayes uses photographs and oral history interviews from the Marta and Pedro Ortiz Family Papers (MS-01198) to share the Ortiz family’s experience as a migrant farm worker family living in the Moapa Valley region of Southern Nevada.
  • The Lied Library 25th anniversary exhibit “Lied Turns 25: Building the Heart of UNLV” is now on display on the 1st floor. Curated by Aaron Mayes, Sarah Jones, Kee Choi, Rosan Mitola, Landon Paljusaj and Amanda Slater, it features original artwork by UNLV Libraries staff, a digital timeline of Lied Library happenings, photographs of students and staff in the building, and a special section on the transformation of the physical card catalog into the online version. Its narrative panels highlight the building’s architecture and its changing interior design, its role as a center for student life, and how student workers have been essential to the success of the library over the past two decades.
