WHO:
All library card holders
WHAT:
You will need a personal identification number (PIN) to perform self check-out and selected online functions; including renewing books, accessing your patron record, placing holds on materials, accessing Ereserves, and connecting remotely to library indexes, databases, and electronic journals.
HOW:
When you request any of these functions online, you will be prompted to enter a personally selected PIN. Libraries’ staff will be available in person and by telephone or IM for those requesting assistance in setting up a PIN. A RebelCard ID will continue to be required for in-person checkout by UNLV students, faculty and staff. Community users and Nevada System of Higher Education affiliates will need a current, valid photo-ID in addition to their UNLV Libraries borrowing card.
WHERE:
Pick your PIN online or visit the circulation desk at any of the University Libraries. See the Authenticating for Library Services FAQ for more information.
WHY:
Activating a self-selected PIN can be done online in seconds and offers the security of privacy protection and reduces risk of identity theft. It’s also protection against someone checking out materials using your card and leaving you responsible for payment
