What You Can Support

Unrestricted Gifts

Unrestricted gifts are those that are given to the Libraries for use as determined by the Dean of Libraries. These gifts provide the UNLV Libraries with the flexibility to apply funds where needed most. Previous unrestricted donations have been used to support students, build collections, replace old equipment and furnishings, and develop new programs. The UNLV Libraries accepts unrestricted donations of all amounts.

The UNLV Libraries offers the following options for donors of unrestricted gifts:

Investors Circle

The Investors Circle recognizes individuals who contribute less than $1000.

Libraries Investors are recognized on the website and in the Libraries annual donor honor roll; they also receive Libraries information and invitations to special Libraries and university events.

For more information about the Investors Circle, please contact the Libraries development office at 895-2227.

Dean’s Associates

The Libraries Dean's Associates (DA) is a program designed for individuals who would like to contribute annually at a level of $1,000 or above. Contributions from Deans' Associates enable the Dean to support special programs or launch new initiatives. Libraries Dean's Associates are recognized on the website and in the Libraries annual donor honor roll. They also receive the Libraries newsletter, and are invited to UNLV's formal annual donor gala and to the Libraries annual Dean's Associates reception, as well as to special Libraries and university events.

For more information about the Dean’s Associates program, please download a brochure or call the Libraries development office at 895-2227.

Honor with Books Program (Gifts that Memorialize or Celebrate Family & Friends)

Giving to the UNLV Libraries in honor of friends or relatives has become a tradition in the Las Vegas community. Individuals can donate through the Honor with Books program to recognize special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. Individuals also can use this program to memorialize loved ones, friends, or associates. All gifts will be acknowledged and the honorees will be notified. Gifts of $100 or more also will be recognized with the placement of bookplates in appropriate volumes.

For more information about how to donate through the Honor with Books program, please download a brochure (.pdf) or call the Libraries development office at 895-2235. To view bookplates, please click here .

Major Unrestricted Gifts

Major unrestricted gifts provide remarkable support to the Libraries and therefore are often recognized publicly by naming a physical space or endowment in Lied or one of the branch libraries. Naming opportunities provide donors the ability to honor a family name, celebrate the life of a loved one, or to extend the legacy of a friend, colleague, or family member.

The UNLV Libraries has multiple naming opportunities available. To date, the president's board room has been named for J. A. Tiberti and many donors have chosen to name group study rooms.

Endowments

For more information about donating to or creating an endowment, please call the Libraries development office at 895-2227.

Restricted/Directed Gifts

Restricted/directed gifts allow donors to focus support on a project or program that is especially important to them.  In coordination with the dean and the Libraries priorities, donors can choose to fund an initiative that is in need of private support prior to implementation or provide additional support to strengthen an existing program.  Restricted gifts can be directed toward a specific branch library, can be used to set up an endowment, or to provide the necessary capital to fund a program in its entirety.

Branch Library Support

Donors can choose to direct their support toward one of the University Libraries’ three branches: Architecture Studies Library, Curriculum Materials Library, or Music Library.

Program/Project support

The following programs are just a few examples of funding opportunities that share strategic significance and importance to faculty, staff, students, and the community.

For more information about giving to one of the Libraries’ funding priorities, please contact the development office at 895-2227.

Restricted Endowments

Donors can create named endowments to support a particular collection or program at the Libraries, in perpetuity, for a minimum of $25,000.
